Although our Holiday Cottages are period properties, and we are therefore restricted in what can reasonably be done to make them fully ‘Accessible’, we have given a lot of thought to how we can make it as easy as possible for people with more moderate mobility difficulties - whether that’s ongoing, or due to recovering from an injury.
‘Low-Mobility’ friendly
Two of our Holiday Cottages are single-storey, with no stairs or steps and the floors are level throughout once inside. We describe these Cottages as being ‘Low-Mobility friendly’ as we have done everything we can within the constraints of the building to make them accessible to all.
Discreet Accessibility adaptations
Adaptations such as levelling floors and lowering baths, and considerations such as space around furniture and having a high-level bed in each cottage, can make all the difference to you enjoying your time away, whilst appealing to everyone - subtle and unobtrusive to the other guests staying with you.

DETAILED ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION
Front Entrances
Well-lit entrances, with step-free access from the pavement to the front door.
Living rooms
Step-free access. Low thresholds in doorways. Wooden floors with short-pile rugs and non-slip mats. The armchairs are easy to move.
Although different colours, the sofa and armchairs are the same in both cottages.
Height from floor to top of seat: 48cm (19 inches)
Depth of seat-cushion: 59cm (23 1/4 inches)
Height from floor to top of seat: 43cm (17 inches)
Kitchens
Step-free access. Tiled floors with low thresholds in doorways.
Fridge compartments are at the top of fridge-freezers.
Microwaves, kettles, toasters and coffee machines are at worktop-height.
Ovens and grills are all under-counter level.
Crockery & glasses are stored at above worktop level.
Cutlery is stored in drawers at worktop level.
A small stool (height approx 22cm (8 1/2 inches) is provided to help reach higher shelves.
Both Flint Cottage and Corner Cottage have a dishwasher and a washing machine.
Dining areas
Step-free access. Tiled floors with low thresholds in doorways.
Dining chairs are easy to move, and have comfortable seat-cushions.

Height from floor to seat (to top of the seat-cushion) : 52cm (20 1/2 inches)
Corner cottage dining chair
Height from floor to seat (to top of the seat-cushion): 50cm (19 3/4 inches)
BEDROOMS
All bedrooms have step-free access with low thresholds between rooms, and wooden floors. Non-slip mats either side of the beds.
All beds have comfortable memory-foam mattresses.
Each Cottage has one bed which is higher than average, to make it easier to sit down and stand up.
FLINT COTTAGE
Master Bedroom (Kingsize bed):
Height of bed from floor to top of mattress: 64cm (25 1/2 inches)
Double Bedroom:
Height of bed from floor to top of mattress: 58cm (23 inches)
CORNER COTTAGE
Kingsize Bedroom:
Height of bed from floor to top of mattress: 59cm (23 inches)
Double Bedroom:
Height of bed from floor to top of mattress: 55cm (21 1/2 inches)
Twin beds option
A Twin Bed arrangement can be provided in the Master Bedroom at Flint Cottage if you need to have someone with you (in the same room, but in separate beds).

Width of bed: 76cm (2ft 6 inches)
At Night
‘Night-lights’ are positioned between the bedrooms and the bathrooms.
BATHROOMS
Both bathrooms have step-free access, with low thresholds. Tiled floors and glass shower-screens (rather than loose shower-curtains). Baths have been set as low as possible - to make it easier to get in & out.
The style of the bath is the same in both Cottages.

Corner Cottage
Bath height from floor: 52cm (20 1/2 inches)
Flint Cottage
Bath height from floor: 49cm (19 1/2 inches)
The baths have a flatter bottom, for more stability whilst showering, and-grips on the sides.
And there is a non-slip mat for use inside the bath when showering.
The shower heads can be height-adjusted and hand-held.
The Courtyards
Both Courtyards are flat and level hard-paved areas, with comfortable and lightweight (easy to move) patio chairs with arms.
Flint Cottage
To get to the Courtyard there is a low threshold at the back door.
Corner Cottage
There are two steps down at the back door to the outside. 14cm (5 1/2 inches), then 17cm (7 inches).
Along a level hard-paved area there is one step up to the Courtyard. 13cm (5 inches)

Meet & Greet
We operate a ‘Meet & Greet’ service as standard and will meet you at your Cottage on Arrival, to make sure you have arrived safely and have everything you need for your stay.
We can also give you an ‘orientation’ tour of the Cottage if you wish, and would be happy to help you with your luggage.
Assistance Dogs
Whilst we would love to be able to, we cannot accommodate large dogs (such as a full-size Labrador) in any of our cottages simply as there is not enough space.
However, if your Assistance Dog is no more than approx 50cm in height to the shoulder and 22kg in weight they will be very welcome at Flint Cottage when there is a maximum of 2 guests.

Getting out and about
The Public Transport services locally are very good, with buses and trains running regularly, and local taxi services are very reasonably priced.
Some of the larger towns (such as Ipswich, Felixstowe and Lowestoft) and major attractions offer Mobility Scooter Hire.
